Inca Kola News provides a link (click here) to a really valuable report on mining risk in Latin America.
The report is a little hair-curling as it is provided by a company (Kroll) which "is the world's leading risk consulting company". Kroll is thus like anti-virus software providers. Every PC (when you load the free anti-virus diagnosis software) has multiple "infections" all of which are made to sound pretty scary. Kroll highlight's each country's risks in a way that certainly doesn't minimize them.
Still, getting a nice summary (with details) on what is happening in each country is pretty darn valuable. It also gives hints and tips regarding which provinces within a country are "safer" or "riskier" than others.
I'm planning on referring to this closely prior to buying any Latin America mining company.
One more thing, this report is the best reason to buy Metanor (MTO.V), which is in Quebec CA, that I've seen lately. Same thing goes for other Canadian producers, e.g. SanGold (SGR.V). I don't own either, but they are on my radar screen.
