If you'll recall, I recently profiled Golden Star Resources (GSS) as a gold mining turn-around play (click here). It was in the doldrums until today when it popped 8%. I found a recent blog post on GSS that pretty much matches my perspective. Here's the money quote:
"Other than Newmont Mining (NEM) (before the stock rocketed last month), I can't think of a gold miner that is more hated (and undeservedly so, much like NEM was, due to what are short-term problems that all miners go through) than GSS. That's the sort of situation that makes for dramatic upside moves, and I still believe that lies in GSS's future, much as we saw with NEM last month."
